Brian Stevens

Brian Stevens is a proud Gunai man from Orbost in East Gippsland and one of Australia’s respected First Nations leadership practitioners.
Over the past 35 years he has worked across government, Aboriginal community- controlled organisations, private industry and community sectors helping organisations strengthen governance, leadership, cultural capability and strategic direction.


Brian has held senior executive and Board positions, contributed to Victoria’s historic Treaty process.
His approach combines practical leadership with deep listening, cultural knowledge and thoughtful decision making.

My Journey

Everything I have learned has come from experience.

Growing up in regional Victoria, leaving school early, navigating identity, working across communities and organisations, serving in leadership roles and contributing to Victoria’s Treaty journey have all shaped how I see leadership today.
Leadership is not about titles.
It is about how we show up for others.
